Dash Light FAQ - Common Dashboard Indicators
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INDICATOR
Today’s vehicles come equipped with various types of electronic systems to monitor the air pressure in your tires. This is done for primarily for safety purposes with the additional benefit of allowing you to identify a potential flat tire situation before it occurs. As the seasons change, many of you may experience your low tire pressure indicator light coming on. In most cases, this is a result of the change in air pressure from the changing temperatures. If this occurs we recommend you take the following steps:
1. Check and reset all tire pressures. Proper tire pressure levels can be found on the door jamb of driver’s door or in the owner’s manual.
2. Reset the tire indicator. Consult your owner’s manual for the specific instructions for you model as the systems vary. It will be listed in the index under “Tire Pressure Warning System.”
In most cases, following these simple steps will reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring system. If the light remains on, please contact us and we will be glad to inspect the system for you.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (YELLOW ENGINE SHAPED INDICATOR)
This indictor usually identifies an issue with the vehicles emission system. If the vehicle is on in a STEADY mode, the vehicle can be driven but you will need to contact Copeland Toyota to schedule a service appointment. This indicator monitors several interrelated systems. Please be aware extensive driving with the light steady on may cause additional components to be effected. If the indicator is FLASHING, a significant problem has developed. We recommend you stop the vehicle in the nearest SAFE location and have it towed to the nearest Toyota dealership to prevent additional failures.
